EXPERTISE

We have provided tunneling expertise as a consulting firm for over 40 years. Our capability in tunnels and underground spaces include a full range of services for structures in different soil and rock types from sand and swelling clay ground to hard igneous rocks. PCI has also been active in the design and construction supervision of immersed tube tunnel projects for submarine road crossings and utility tunnels in Japan.

PCI's range of services cover all stages of tunnel works including preliminary investigations, master planning, feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, construction supervision, project management, final acceptance of completed works, as well as technology transfer and training. Additionally, environmental impact analysis (EIA) and operation and maintenance (OM) are integral parts of every tunnel project, and are disciplines in which PCI has considerable expertise. PCI is fully able to address institutional, organizational, and legal issues associated with tunnel projects.

A recent example of PCI's work is the Delhi Mass Rapid Transit System in India where tunnel works had a total length of 11 km including the construction of 10 Underground Stations by Cut and Cover, Shield machine, Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), and NATM. PCI also worked on the Kohat Tunnel of the Indus Highway in Pakistan which has a 1.9 km length and was constructed by NATM.
