EXPERTISE

Post-Conflict Reconstruction

The explosion of violent conflicts around the world has deprived civilian populations of security and destroyed their physical infrastructure. After a country receives emergency humanitarian relief, PCI offers Rehabilitation Consulting services that focus on reconstruction of supporting social institutions and infrastructure as well as capacity building for governmental institutions and empowerment of civil society. PCI's comprehensive approach includes strategy making, rehabilitation planning, capacity building as well as construction management.

During the last decade, PCI has participated in post-conflict reconstruction and peace building in war-torn countries such as Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, East Timor, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Angola, Mozambique, Bosnia-Herzegovina, FYR Macedonia and Palestine.

In Afghanistan, for instance, PCI has a new integrated Support Program for Reintegration and Community Development for Returnees and Neighbors in Kandahar Province (Afghanistan) which includes teacher training program, community development for returnees and vulnerable groups in the neighboring community. PCI also has provided institutional capacity building for the local government through collaboration with JICA, UN agencies, and NGOs.
